1) Eagle watching set to take place
(Lawrence, Kan.) - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., is offering an opportunity to glimpse the lives of the American eagle.
Watching Winter Eagles Field Trip will be held 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 12. It is open to individuals 18 years-old and older. The field trip will include looking at local eagle nest and their habitat. Cost is $15 per person. A minimum of 5 people are needed for the field trip to take place.
Participants must come prepared to go for short hikes and cold weather. Binoculars and spotting scopes are available for use.

West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St. or the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, 947 New Hampshire St., Suite 200B.

2) Winter Hiking Club set to begin
(Lawrence, Kan.) – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., is offering an afterschool hiking program.
Winter Hiking Club will be held 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 11; Jan, 25; Feb 8 and Feb. 22.The hikes are open to children 7 years-old to 12 years-old. Each field trip will have its own theme. Participants must be prepared to go outside. Cost is $5 per child / per hike.
