3)   Kaw water plant construction to put water crane temporarily out of service
(Lawrence, Kan.) – The Lawrence Utilities Department is preparing for construction on the transmission piping and valves coming from the Kaw Water Treatment Plant. This construction will require that the plant be shut down from approximately late February through late March. Although residents will not be affected by this shut down, the water crane at this location will not be in operation during that time.
The water crane is primarily used by customers for bulk water purchases into tanks for transport. As an alternative, these customers should contact the City of Perry or the City of Eudora for purchase of bulk water from their facilities. Commercial or construction users can contact the Utilities Department to rent a hydrant meter. Utilities staff will make the dates for shutdown and start-up available to customers as they are determined.
