1) St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held on Saturday, March 17
(Lawrence, Kan.) – On Saturday, March 17th, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will make its way through downtown Lawrence, across the Highway 24-40 Bridge and enter into North Lawrence. The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. at South Park. The parade will affect traffic in downtown Lawrence during part of the day; Massachusetts Street will be closed from 11th to 14th Street beginning at noon.
The parade route may affect traffic throughout downtown but north and southbound traffic will still be able to cross the bridge during the parade. Bus routes on the T will be affected during the parade; a complete listing of bus reroutes is available online at www.lawrencetransit.org.
The City of Lawrence reminds revelers to remember to be safe and responsible when enjoying the local festivities and merriment.

2) Swim lessons starting soon
(Lawrence, Kan.) – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Aquatic Division is accepting registrations for swim lessons.
Classes, part of the American Red Cross’ Learn-to-Swim program, are available at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.
Weekend lessons are available, running Saturdays, March 31- April 21. Weekend lessons cost $23 for a four-week session. Classes are offered for people of all ages, from infants to adults, at varying skill level. A complete schedule of courses can be found in the 2012 Summer/Fall Activities Guide, which can be found online at www.lprd.org or copies may be picked up at any Parks and Recreation facility.
Pre-registration is required for all Learn-to-Swim classes and be can be done online at www.lprd.org or by visiting a Lawrence Parks and Recreation facility, including: the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive; Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. or the Administrative Offices, 947 New Hampshire St.
