Celebrate the Final Four safely in Lawrence this weekend
(Lawrence, Kan.) – The City of Lawrence is abuzz with excitement for this weekend’s Final Four NCAA Tournament game on Saturday evening. However, safety is our top priority. Lawrence Police Department offers some common sense tips for enjoying the fun and celebrations while being safe this weekend:
-    Stay in groups while downtown and notify family members of your plans
-    Do not get into cars with individuals whom you do not know
-    Cans and bottles will not be allowed in the downtown area
-    Avoid parking along or near Massachusetts Street - streets will be closed and you will not be able to remove your vehicle
-    Stay off rooftops. They are dangerous and potentially illegal.
-    Do not bring dogs downtown into the crowds; this poses a safety risk.
-    Use caution bringing small children downtown
-    Celebrate responsibly and be aware of your surroundings

“As a community, we are excited that KU is in the Final Four and we fully support the University and its athletics programs,” said Mayor Aron Cromwell. “We hope that students and visitors will come downtown and celebrate but be mindful of safety and respectful of property.”
