Reminder: Earth Day Celebration is tomorrow
(Lawrence, Kan.) – The City of Lawrence Waste Reduction and Recycling Division is hosting the 12th annual Earth Day Celebration in South Park this Saturday, April 14th from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The day starts with a parade, hosted by KU Environs, at 11:00 a.m. on Massachusetts Street from Seventh Street to South Park.
All activities are free and open to the public. In case of severe weather, the event will be cancelled; there is no rain date for this event. The city will send out a press release in the event of cancellation and post a message to the www.LawrenceRecycles.org website.
The celebration in the park features the Douglas County Water Festival, South Park tree identification tours, children’s activities, live music, food vendors, and over sixty exhibitors who will inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment.
Celebration attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or ride the bus to South Park. The Lawrence Transit System is offering free rides on the T all day this Saturday, April 14th, providing the experience and benefits of public transportation on all fixed routes.
