1) Administrative offices relocated to South Park
(Lawrence, Kan.) – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Administrative Office has completed its move to South Park. The administrative offices are now housed at 1141 Massachusetts St.
This includes the department’s director and assistant director, as well as the Cemeteries Office and the Marketing Division. Also, joining the administrative team is the Recreation Operations Division supervisor and support staff, overseeing the department’s recreation facilities, including facility rentals. Facility rentals may be made at any department facility; however the Administrative Office will be the primary location for facility rentals.
The Cemeteries Office phone number has also changed to (785) 832-3451.

2) Water Safety and Wellness Fair slated for this Saturday
(Lawrence, Kan.) – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department, Aquatic Division’s Water Safety and Wellness Fair is fast approaching.
The fair will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
The fair will have safety stations for children to learn about water safety. After visiting all the stations, children will receive a safe-swimmer wristband after signing a Swimmer’s Pledge Card, which says they will practice safe swimming techniques.
Other agencies and businesses involved with the fair include: Kansas Wildlife and Parks, US Army Corps of Engineers, Rocky Mountain Sunscreen and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Dive Team. A patrol boat used by Kansas Wildlife and Parks will be on display in the parking lot; free life jacket fittings will be offered as part of the fair. Other displays include information on hypothermia and sun safety. Free swim evaluations will also be offered.
The fair is commemorate May as Water Safety Month.
