Public meeting set for residents to discuss concept plans for recreational complex northwest Lawrence
(Lawrence, Kan.) – The City of Lawrence will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, June 6 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Free State High School Commons, 4700 Overland Drive. At the meeting, residents, and those interested in the project, will have a chance to provide input and ideas for the development of a possible facility.
The city announced in March that a proposal for a regional recreation center had been received. The proposal included a public-private partnership that would create a regional recreation center that provides opportunities for multiple sports and recreational activities. The proposal also provides for a recreation center along with other amenities that serve the community and the region. At the May 15 City Commission meeting, the Commission voted to annex 146-acres plus adjacent right-of-way at the northwest corner of W. 6th Street and K-10 Highway.
