(Lawrence, Kan.) - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department announces the opening of the Outdoor Aquatic Center for the summer season.
The Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., will open Saturday, May 26, and will be open daily through Sunday, Aug. 19.
The Outdoor Aquatic Center’s hours are as follows:
May 26 - August 19
Daily 1:00 - 8:45 p.m.
Exceptions:
Wednesday, July 4: 1:00 - 6:45 p.m.
Thursday and Friday, Aug. 16-17: 4:00 - 8:45 p.m.
There will be a morning lap swim available 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday, from Monday, June 4 - Saturday, Aug. 18, as well as Monday through Friday, Aug 20-31, at the Outdoor Aquatic Center.
The Outdoor Aquatic Center will also once again host the Pooch Plunge 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31. Cost is $5 per dog.
The Indoor Aquatic Center will switch to its summer hours on Saturday, May 26. The summer hours will be followed through Tuesday, July 31. The summer hours are:
Lap Swimming
Monday through Friday: 5:15 a.m. – 8:45 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:45 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 – 5:45 p.m.
Waterslide and Diving Area
Monday through Saturday: 1:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Warm Water Workouts
Monday through Thursday: noon – 1 p.m.
Zero-Depth and Children’s Area
Monday through Saturday: 1:00 – 8:45 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 – 5:45 p.m.
The South Park Wading Pool will open for the summer on Wednesday, May 30, and remain open through Saturday, Aug. 11.
South Park Wading Pool hours are as follows:
Wednesday, May 30 – Saturday, August 11
Monday through Friday: 1:30 – 7 p.m.
Saturday: 1:00 – 6:00 p.m.
The Carl Knox Natatorium will be closed for the summer. It closed Thursday, May 11, and will reopen Monday, Aug. 20.

(Lawrence, Kan.) – The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is offering “early bird” summer aquatics passes this week only. From May 21 to May 25, stop by the Indoor Aquatic Center at 4706 Overland Drive to pre-purchase your summer swimming pass in advance for just $60 (regularly $81). This pass will provide 101 days of summer swimming and is good at all LPRD Aquatic Centers. This promotion is valid for existing pass renewals, too.
This offer is good for this week only. Full price monthly passes will be available for purchase starting May 26. Passes are valid Saturday, May 26 to Monday, Sept. 3 at any LPRD aquatic facility. Hours and dates of operation may vary at each location.
