Water main break on 19th Street closes both lanes of traffic

(Lawrence, Kan.) –Both lanes of traffic on East 19th Street between Maple and Edgelea have been closed immediately as Utilities crews repair a water main break. Traffic control devices will be set up to divert traffic to an alternate route. Utilities crews have notified all affected customers and are on site while locates are completed. The water main is an 12-inch cast iron pipe installed in 1954. As crews determine the size of the break and extent of the excavation needed, traffic may be opened to one lane later in the day.
