SHELTERS AND PARK RESTROOMS CLOSING FOR SEASON
LAWRENCE – The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department announces the seasonal closing of outdoor shelters and park restrooms.
All park water fountains and restrooms will be shut down by tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The restrooms and shelters are closed during the winter months to avoid water freezing in pipes, as well as general maintenance that is performed on the facilities.
The shelters and restrooms will re-open in spring 2013. Shelter reservations are currently being accepted at any Parks and Recreation facility for dates no more than one year from the desired reservation date between April 15 and Oct. 30. There are also several indoor facilities available for year-round rental to accommodate reception, showers and party needs.
Reservations for outdoor shelters from April 15 to Oct. 30, and indoor facilities, year-round, are taken at any of the community recreation centers including the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St., Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive and the Administrative Office in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St.
