Snow plows hit the streets Tuesday
(LAWRENCE KAN.) - Every year, the Street Maintenance Division conducts a practice of the snow removal plan. For the 2012/2013 winter weather season, review of the plan will be on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Employees from the Street Maintenance Division will be inspecting equipment, putting together gear and traveling their assigned 16 routes.
The annual practice provides an opportunity to review the plan and incorporate new streets and train employees. The practice will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Street Maintenance facility at 11th Street and Haskell Avenue and will conclude by 4 p.m.
The street division is responsible for clearing 811 lane miles and keeping the airport open during every snow event. The 2012 /2013 snow routes are online at http://lawrenceks.org/snow.
