City Commission Meetings Now Streaming Live
Starting Tuesday, Dec. 4, City Commission meetings will be viewable live through the city’s website.
As part of the upgrade to the video and sound system in the City Commission Meeting room, the capability to stream live video feeds of the City Commission meetings has been added to the City’s website. When meetings are in progress, the public can view the meeting live from a computer or mobile device by visiting http://www.lawrenceks.org/stream.
City Commission agendas and times are available at http://www.lawrenceks.org/agendas. The commission typically meets at 6:35 p.m. each Tuesday. Some special meetings may start sooner. In months with five Tuesdays, the commission meeting is canceled on the fifth Tuesday.

Santa Splash registration deadline approaching
(LAWRENCE, Kan.) – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department invites children ages 2 years-old to 12 years-old and their parents to an afternoon of fun at the Santa Splash. The event will be held from noon to 12:45 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.
Participants will make holiday crafts, play games and swim. Milk and cookies will be served, as well as a visit from Santa Claus. The cost of the event is $7 per child. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 12, in order to secure a craft. Registration will be accepted the day of the event but a craft will not be guaranteed.
Parents will need to pay admission if child remains after the event to swim. Swimming for the child is included in the program fee.

Soccer/futsal registration deadline approaching
(LAWRENCE, Kan.) – Children wishing to participate in Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department, Youth Sports Division’s indoor soccer/futsal program must be registered by Wednesday, Jan. 2. If registrations are not received by that date, a $15 late fee will be assessed. Children who qualify for scholarships must apply by Wednesday, January 2, for consideration. Applications are available at any Parks and Recreation facility.
Boys and girls soccer/futsal leagues are open to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Players will develop basic soccer skills and learn the fundamentals of fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship. Teams are formed by a child’s current grade level and the school he or she attends.
Games will be held on Saturdays, February 2 - March 9. The fee to participate is $40 for children in kindergarten through fourth grade, and $50 for children in fifth and sixth grade.
