Snow Update: City prepping for snow event overnight
(Lawrence, Kan.) - The City of Lawrence street maintenance crews will be on duty starting at midnight tonight in preparation of an early morning snow event that is forecasted to drop approximately one-to-two inches of snow in Lawrence.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow/blowing snow has been issued for the Lawrence area. The forecast calls for rain to end sometime between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. with snow beginning afterward. Predictions show snow gradually lessening to flurries by Wednesday at Noon.
Depending on conditions at midnight, crews will begin sanding/salting once snow begins to fall. Crews will remain on duty until the end of the snow event.
"As always, we recommend to motorists to slow down and allow extra time when driving in winter weather," said Mark Thiel, assistant public works director.
