Contractor hits water main at E. 19th and Delaware Street

Contractor hits water main at E. 19th and Delaware Street

(Lawrence, Kan.) – At approximately 10:30am, a contractor working in the area of E. 19th and Delaware Street hit a water main. Utilities personnel report that the line is an 8 inch PVC line that was installed in 1982. City staff are on site to repair the line. Water service will be shut down for the repair and will affect approximately 37 homes and 2 businesses. Utilities staff have notified customers that are affected. The repair is expected to take approximately 4-5 hours. At this time the repair is not expected to close either 19th Street or Delaware to through traffic. Any traffic diversions will be marked.
